Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy

Ketamine Assisted Therapy

Ketamine is a powerful psychedelic medicine that can lead to lasting psychological healing and growth.

How can I access KAP?

I work with KAP in several different ways. My individual therapy clients may choose to pursue KAP as part of our work together. I also take referrals from other therapists that feel that KAP would be helpful to their clients, but don’t practice it themselves. I offer KAP to individuals and groups, both remotely, and in a retreat setting. Group KAP is a great opportunity for those looking for a more affordable option, and can have the added benefit of working with others that are also on their healing journey.

How Do I Get Started?

After discussing whether or not KAP is right for you, I will make a referral to a prescriber for your initial intake with them. If they determine that KAP is a good fit from a medical perspective, you will receive a prescription with dosing instructions that are specific to you, as determined by your prescriber. Your prescriber will then mail your doses to you at your home. The way that we will work with ketamine is through sublingual dosing, which means that you will administer a tablet that dissolves instantly under your tongue.

Prior to your dosing session, we will work together individually to conduct an intake treatment plan, and may schedule one or more individual sessions ahead of your ketamine dosing session. Once you receive your prescription, we will schedule both a dosing and integration session if we are working remotely. These sessions may occur on different days or on the same day if we are working on an intensive session. If we are working together in a retreat setting, we will schedule that retreat ahead of time. See here for more details on retreats.

What happens when we meet?

In the dosing session, we will prepare the space, set intentions, and make sure that you have everything you need. You will take your own blood pressure and pulse, and we will check in with your chaperone if we are meeting remotely. After that, you will take your dose, and embark on your journey. You will use an eye mask, lay down in a comfortable place, and put on noise canceling headphones to engage with a music playlist, which I will provide.

As you are in your experience, I will hold space with you throughout that time, call you out of your journey, and close the session with intention. You may or may not want to process what you experienced immediately afterwards, and either way is totally fine. We intentionally set a date for an integration session within a week to take advantage of your brain’s post-KAP neuroplasticity.

Remote KAP

Clients located in Colorado and Oregon can access remote KAP through a prescriber that I work with who conducts telehealth intakes. Once you have received your prescription, we will work together to schedule a dosing session and an integration session to process your experience.

Intensive Retreats

KAP is an essential component to my intensive individual retreats. Clients living out of state may receive their prescription in their home state and travel to Oregon for our retreat. Learn more about individual retreats here, and stay tuned to learn about upcoming group retreats.
